Moon Sight

$6.00

At the center of this pattern is one of the many varieties of the moon motif from Palestine. I have used so many moons in my designs that at this point I can't remember exactly where I found this motif, but this has become my go to moon. The pattern feels solid and grounded while still having some swirling and undulating motion. Surrounding it we have more western motifs of crescent moons and eyes.

As with all of my patterns, they can be used for whatever you'd like. If you are a crafter and not a witch, that's completely fine! You can stitch this without any spiritual meaning behind it, just an appreciation for both Western cross stitch and Palestinian Tatreez.

If you are witchy, I made this with the intention of appreciating the moon and the different perspective that we are granted by seeing the world in the moonlight. Since this is a smaller pattern, it can be used as a sigil on or in spell bags or dream pillows. Or maybe you're slowly making an altar cloth and want to add this to a larger pattern. There are no wrong answers!

As always, all I ask is that you make this piece with some knowledge and solidarity with Palestine. I don't believe that Tatreez is a closed practice, but it is one that demands intention. Every moon, star, tree, and flower motif, reflect an occupied land. Many of these motifs were created by Palestinians finding solace in nature, and envisioning a free land. Palestinian culture is also enduring erasure. I make these patterns to combat that erasure and to spread the knowledge and beauty of Palestine. In addition to this, $4 from every pattern sold will go to UNRWA, a UN organization that supports Palestinians under occupation and those that have become refugees. I hope to be able to donate more in the future, but in order to make this business sustainable, I need to start small.

Thank you for supporting Palestine and a small Palestinian owned business.
